Kelly Taylor – Aboriginal Artist

Kelly Taylor is a distinguished Aboriginal artist and the founder of KT Aboriginal Fine Art, a proud Aboriginal-owned and operated family business based in Ceduna, South Australia. She belongs to the Antikirinya-Yankunytjatjara people on her grandmother’s side and the Kokatha people on her grandfather’s side.

A Legacy of Culture and Creativity

Kelly began her artistic journey at age 11, learning under her grandmother, Millie Taylor (née Lennon)—a respected artist, healer, and cultural leader. Millie’s teachings instilled in Kelly a deep respect for culture, storytelling, and connection to Country.

Her work is shaped by childhood memories of camping under the stars, gathering bush foods, and listening to stories passed down through generations. These powerful experiences come alive in her paintings.

Distinctive Artistic Style

Kelly’s style is recognized by:

  • Intricate dot patterns
  • Earth-toned colour palettes
  • Symbolic storytelling from Aboriginal culture

Signature pieces include “Living on Country,” “The Healer (Ngangkaṟi),” and “Camping Under the Moonlight,” which explore themes of family, healing, and life on Country.

Three Generations of Aboriginal Artists

Kelly works alongside her daughters, T’keyah and Kelilah Ware, forming a unique three-generational studio. Together, they celebrate their Yankunytjatjara and Kokatha heritage through original paintings, prints, and commissions.

Their work has been featured in:

  • Vogue Living
  • The Tarnanthi Art Fair
  • Royal Flying Doctor Service projects
  • Disney Australia collaborations
